We offer two distinct levels. Proofreading catches surface errors, typos, grammar, punctuation, basic referencing inconsistencies, formatting glitches. It's what most papers need before submission. Substantive editing goes deeper, restructuring paragraphs, tightening arguments, improving transitions, suggesting better sources, fixing citation style consistency, and rewriting passages that aren't working. It's editorial intervention without changing your voice.
Every editor on our roster is a native English UK academic with a Master's or PhD in their field. They know not just where the comma goes, but why your methodology paragraph doesn't quite defend the design you chose, and how to fix it. They work in track changes so you can see every edit, accept or reject each one, and learn from the changes as you go.
We work in British English by default, colour, behaviour, organisation, programme, analyse, but we can switch to American English or follow your university's specific style guide if needed. We also follow style sheets for major UK referencing systems: Harvard (any variant), OSCOLA, APA 7, MLA, Vancouver, Chicago. If your university has a house style document, send it and we'll apply it.
Turnaround is fast. Standard editing on a 5,000-word document is 48 hours. We can do a 24-hour rush for shorter pieces. For full dissertations and theses, we typically need 5,10 days depending on the level of editing required. Use the calculator at the top of this page for an exact price.
